Tsuwano’s built heritage: Catholic church
The Catholic church and clergy house
The church and the clergy house was built in 1931, on the grounds where once the Hori Kurobei residence stood, a family from the chief’s of Tsuwano town. The building is of Gothic style, a wooden structure with gabled metal roof and a single bell tower. The building has stained glass on the south and north side. The clergy house is a 2 storey hip roofed wooden structure, clapboard/weatherboard on the outer wall, which gives it a western design. The Hori Kurobei residence’s Japanese style garden has been preserved in front of the entrance (of the clergy house)

カトリック教会・神父館
教会は、昭和6年（1931）町年寄堀九郎兵衛宅跡に神父館とともに建設された。ゴシック風意匠を持つ教会は木造平家建切妻造鉄板葺単塔式で、南北面には簡素なデザインのステンドグラスを設ける。神父館は木造総二階建寄棟造で、外壁を下見板張とし洋風なデザインとなっている。玄関前には堀九郎兵衛宅の和風庭園がそのままに保存されている。
